The Impact of Implementing 3D Printing at the Point-of-Care

July 19, 2019

The creation of patient-specific anatomical models derived from medical imaging data is reported as early as 1981. These first anatomical models, generated by contouring computed tomography images and milling manufacturing techniques, were low resolution, labor intensive and prohibitively expensive to produce at scale. This work, however, laid the foundation which would later be established as a valuable application for 3D Printing.

The 4 Main Challenges Facing Today’s Manufacturers

whitePaper | July 12, 2022

Modern manufacturers succeed when they balance the types of jobs they accept with the capabilities they offer, and maximize the value of both their equipment and their personnel. Shops that fail to optimize their capabilities and remove inefficiencies from their processes may be unable to produce at their real capacity and meet expected quality standards. To improve efficiency and reach their production potential, shops must discover ways to meet four main challenges, especially as highmix, low-volume (HMLV) production gradually replaces mass-quantity output in multiple industrial environments.

Stress Testing 3D Printed Parts for End-Use Applications

whitePaper | January 9, 2023

Modern manufacturing theory, tools, and best practices are focused on how to make thousands or millions of identical parts or products at a low cost per unit. Custom and low volume production pose unique challenges that require manufacturers to adapt from typical mass production models. Thanks to the rapid development of technologies and materials over the last decade, additive manufacturing has grown more capable as a true manufacturing tool and can now enable the fabrication of these custom and low volume end-use parts rapidly and cost-efficiently. This white paper presents Formlabs 3D printing hardware and material solutions for end-use part production. It documents various users' case studies and includes stress testing results to verify the suitability of 3D printing materials for end-use applications.

Can Industry 4.0 Solve Downtime Issues?

whitePaper | October 3, 2022

If yours is like most businesses today, you run a tight ship. When you see problems on your production line, you do not wait to solve them, and the result is a lean operation that does not let issues linger or snowball into larger problems. But it is impossible to fix what you cannot see or track. While Industry 4.0 is often a buzzword, Watlow® is already providing solutions that are helping manufacturers proactively forecast future issues and reduce costs. Given that the average cost of an hour of downtime in manufacturing was $532,000 in 2021, there is so much opportunity for businesses to save money with Industry 4.0.
