Crews extinguish two-alarm fire at Honeywell manufacturing plant in Chester

Fire crews have responded to a fire at the Honeywell manufacturing plant in Chester off Route 10 Friday night. The plant is located at 4101 Bermuda Hundred Road. Sources tell CBS 6 the plant fire is a two-alarm fire and additional crews for other localities were called to help battle to blaze. Honeywell Spokesman Peter Dalpe sent CBS 6 a statement that read: “Honeywell’s Chesterfield plant experienced a fire in one of its production areas around 9 p.m.  Friday. There are no reported injuries or reported offsite impacts from the incident at this time. The fire was extinguished by the facility’s fire brigade, aided by local firefighters who responded to the plant. The cause of the fire in under investigation and the operations in the affected area have been suspended.” Honeywell is a manufacturing facility that specializes in the production of nylon polymer used in fishing nets, carpet fibers, and molded plastics used in cars. Chesterfield Fire tells CBS 6 the fire has been marked under control as of 10: 15 p.m. Crews are still on the scene to make sure the facility is safe. CBS 6 has a crew on the way to the scene.
