3D Printed Tools for Collaborative Robot Automation at Bilstein

Collaborative robots (or cobots) rely on 3D printing for effective application. The Thyssenkrupp Bilstein shock absorber manufacturing plant in Hamilton, Ohio, offers a great illustration of this. The plant has 33 cobots in active use performing various assembly operations, and these applications employ various pieces of customized hardware the Bilstein team developed and created using either fused filament fabrication or Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing. In this video, Peter Zelinski points out some of the examples of 3D printed hardware in one automated cell.
