Companies such as Universal Robots, Rethink and Kuka are getting good at making safe, easy-to-program and highly precise collaborative robots. But an arm can only do so much without a suite of other components, including controllers, sensors and a tool at the end of it to perform tasks. Deployment of a robotic cell requires integration of all these components. Unlike a human hand, manufacturing engineers can choose the right gripper for the job, optimizing for strength, speed or a specific configuration.
