Velo3D Unlocks New 3D Printing Capabilities with Flow 5.0

On February 28th, 2023, Velo3D, Inc., a pioneer in metal additive manufacturing technology for mission-critical components, announced the latest version of its Flow print preparation software. Engineers utilizing Velo3D's fully integrated solution gain various new features with the release of Flow 5.0, such as the ability to assign different parameters to each part on the build plate and user-selectable core parameter sets that increase control over builds.

Flow 5.0 also includes checks and messages that identify potential errors before a build starts, reducing build failures for customers. Engineers can be sure a part will successfully print before starting. The new solution can also label parts through the Flow print preparation software. Customers can easily add alphanumeric characters to uniquely identify their parts. The Label Updater tool can update characters after a print file is produced.

The release also speeds up build time calculations involving components with different part quantities. After preparing a part for print, users can change the amount and see updated build times to understand scaled production economics. This accelerates OEM planning and contract manufacturer quotes.

The Flow print preparation software is an essential part of Velo3D's fully integrated solution for metal additive manufacturing. The software converts traditional CAD files into print files without design for additive manufacturing (DfAM). Other elements of the solution include the Sapphire printer family, the Assure quality assurance software, and the Intelligent Fusion manufacturing process, which ensures consistent, repeatable results across multiple Sapphire printers using the same print file.

About Velo3D
