Saputo buys another Wisconsin cheese manufacturer

Saputo Inc., Canada's largest cheese manufacturer with multiple locations in Wisconsin, has agreed to buy the company that sells the Montchevre brand of goat cheese, which would give Saputo another Wisconsin cheese production facility. Montreal-based Saputo said last week that it agreed to acquire Betin Inc., a Belmont speciality cheese maker with a facility that employs 319 workers. The Lafayette County company does business as Montchevre and had sales of about $150 million in Canadian dollars, or US$118 million.
