OMNIVISION and AVIVA Sign MOU to Make ASA Standards Camera Systems
Leading global developer of semiconductor solutions, OMNIVISION, signed an MOU with Aviva Links Inc, an automotive connectivity company enabling multi-gigabit links for in-vehicle networks, to develop automotive camera systems based on Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA) specifications. The new sensors integrate AVIVA's high-speed communication solutions with OMNIVISION's image sensor technology, paving the way for intelligent and autonomous vehicles.

Since OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers founded ASA in 2019, the alliance has gained popularity in the automotive industry and has become the OEM standard in manufacturing. ASA's ecosystem includes automobile manufacturers, Tier 1s, semiconductor suppliers, cable and connection manufacturers, test tool providers, and test houses. These firms are building an ASA ecosystem to standardize and optimize SerDes technology for next-generation software-enabled automobiles.

The Camera systems with high-speed data transfer inside vehicles will be vital for the next wave of intelligent vehicles. A standard-based solution that can provide unparalleled performance will propel the industry forward. The company looks forward to working with OMNIVISION, the leader in automotive imaging solutions to speed up the adoption of ASA technology.

Omnivision stated that as the industry advances from proprietary interfaces to an open standard, it is delighted to launch the first camera-based solution designed using ASA standards making it safe and offers lowest power consumption. In addition, transporting data at multi-gigabit speeds while facilitating interoperability is a missing link in intelligent and autonomous vehicles, and Aviva's ASA-compliant technology solves that challenge for the industry.

The new camera systems are being designed in small form factors to ease integration into automobiles and to reduce manufacturing costs, utilizing the best of both AVIVA and OMNIVISION. In addition, because they use ASA-specified encryption technology, the systems are also highly secure.
