Cadrex Solutions, a Core Industrial Partners Portfolio Firm, Acquires D&R Machine Company

CORE Industrial Partners, a private equity firm specializing in manufacturing, industrial technology, and industrial services, recently announced that Cadrex Manufacturing Solutions, one of its portfolio companies, has acquired D&R Machine Company. D&R is a supplier of CNC precision machining solutions that cater to the aerospace and defense sector.

The Cadrex platform, created in 2021, has over 2,000 employees across 11 states and Mexico, and 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space.

Founded in 1971, and headquartered in Southampton, Pennsylvania, north of Philadelphia, D&R Machine, focuses on high-complexity CNC milling, turning, and assembly for aerospace & defense applications such as power units, rotor systems, and control systems. They use a fleet of around 40 CNC machines for machine castings, forgings, and block and bar stock from various materials such as magnesium, aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, brass, nickel, titanium, high-temperature alloys, and plastics.

D&R enhances productivity by investing in advanced machine tool equipment and automation. To further advance its completely automated machining cells, the firm has equipped many of its machines with gantry loaders, pallet changers, or bar feeders.

Brian Steel, Chief Executive Officer of Cadrex, said, “With the addition of D&R Machine to the Cadrex family, our expansive North American footprint of 21 facilities now includes dedicated aerospace & defense manufacturing facilities on both coasts as well as in the Midwest. We look forward to leveraging our differentiated scale and breadth of capabilities to partner with our valued customers.”
