April 16, 2019 / Sam Davies

Stratasys Direct Manufacturing has announced the addition of Velo3D’s Sapphire 3D printing hardware and Flow software to its service offering. The new technology will supplement Stratasys Direct Manufacturing’s repertoire of additive and conventional manufacturing tools as it works to produce existing and new parts to a host of customers in a host of industries.
Velo3D introduced its metal powder bed fusion platform at IMTS last year and announced updates to its Flow print preparation software as recently as February. The hardware has been designed to facilitate the manufacture of parts with complex geometries while reducing the need for support structures and is powered by the company’s Intelligent Fusion technology. Meanwhile, the software enables simulated print predictions, slicing, process review, and when supports are needed, the tools to generate them.
