Houston manufacturing sector forecast to decline
July 10, 2019 / Erin Douglas
Houstons manufacturing activity may decline in the next three months, according to a forecast by the Institute for Supply Management, a trade association. The latest Houston Purchasing Managers Index, which is comprised based on surveys with Houston supply chain executives, shows that manufacturing activity in Houston has continued to slow. Now, fewer new orders and dropping prices in the sector are causing Houston's supply chain executives to predict a contraction in the industry in the coming months. If Houston's manufacturing sector contracts in the coming months, it will be the first time the sector has been in decline since 2017.
