Big data helps UK cracker manufacturer improve productivity

The University of Bradford is working with Leeds-based cracker manufacturer, Rakusen’s, on a KTP project to improve the efficiency of their production lines. Reportedly, the project is using big data intelligence to help cracker biscuit manufacturer Rakusen’s improve the capacity of its product lines.
Although product lines are technically identical, switching products between lines are not possible and therefore it is impossible to have a flexible planning process that allows the company to reach its ‘real’ capacity opportunity.
To achieve more flexible planning, Bradford Computer Science academics are using a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to apply Big Data, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and Artificial Intelligence research principles.
