SKF consolidates manufacturing and organisational structure in France

SKF | November 03, 2020

SKF today announces a consolidation and restructuring of various manufacturing, business and administrative functions in France. Consequently, manufacturing of slewing bearings would be moved from Avallon to St-Cyr-sur-Loire, resulting in the proposed closure of the Avallon factory. The transfer of production from Avallon to St-Cyr enables a more competitive and flexible offer to customers, as well as the realisation of synergies from the existing service centre and logistics capabilities in Saint-Cyr. Kent Viitanen, President, Bearing Operations, says: "We have announced a number of factory consolidations during the year and whilst these are difficult decisions to take, they are necessary to ensure we can continue to meet the needs of our customers in terms of competitiveness, flexibility and quality. We are committed to working with our employees to ensure a smooth transition into training programmes and new employment opportunities." The Avallon site currently has 140 employees and activities are expected to stop by the end of 2022. The restructuring of manufacturing, business and administrative functions in France is expected to impact approximately 110 employees.

Peachtree Packaging & Display Adds Barberan Jetmaster Digital Printer

Prnewswire | May 10, 2023

Peachtree Packaging & Display is thrilled to announce the addition of a Barberan Jetmaster to its printing infrastructure. As a plateless printer, the Series 1750 2.0 digital printer expands Peachtree's capacity for short-run and custom jobs that achieve litho-like print quality in record time. Coupled with Peachtree's Gopfert Evolution and other equipment, the addition offers customers unparalleled digital printing quality and efficiency for their projects. The Spanish manufacturer of the Barberan Jetmaster Series 1750 calls the technology "A New Era" in digital printing due to its single-pass printing capabilities. The printer is entirely digital and plateless. The elimination of plates in the process significantly reduces the cost of small or mid-volume jobs and shortens the time to complete projects. The new printer allows for a new level of customization. Art changes are controlled digitally and can be changed at any time. In addition, the printer has two streams where multiple project versions can be produced in-line on the same structure with no changeover and a max sheet size of 63.5 inches by 118 inches. Also, Peachtree's Barberan is currently the world's only printer with an in-line, post-print coating attachment. The color gamut of the Barberan Jetmaster is unparalleled in its range and quality. Projects have litho-like print quality due to advanced Pantone color matching and an extended color gamut. The Barberan prints images at an exceptional 600 DPI image resolution. The use of UV inks with LED curing ensures the correct size of each droplet, eliminating dot expansion and color mixing. Products also receive UV LED curing with gloss or satin finish flexibility. The system further ensures image integrity while reducing production time and energy consumption. "Industry leaders must have industry-leading technology. We chose Barberan for a reason. Our mission as a company is to provide world-class packaging and print solutions. Our brand identity is built on protecting the integrity of other company brands," said Chad Wagner, president and CEO of Peachtree Packaging. The Barberan Jetmaster meets the highest standards for green manufacturing, producing less than two percent waste. The addition of the Barberan Jetmaster to Peachtree Packaging & Display's infrastructure furthers its goals of housing the best technology and solutions for its packaging and display customers. In 2018, Peachtree added a Gopfert 5-Color Dual-Die Cutting Press to its production line. The Gopfert is considered a best-in-class flexographic printer, allowing Peachtree to produce 10,000 full-size sheets per hour and more than 150 million square feet per year. About Barberan BARBERAN, S.A., founded in 1929, is a family owned enterprise that manufactures industrial surface finishing machinery. We design and manufacture machines to improve productivity in manufacturing processes of the furniture, construction, decoration and packaging industries. Fictiv and Heliospace Announce Partnership to Accelerate New Product Development for Cutting-Edge Space Technology

Prnewswire | May 11, 2023

Fictiv, the operating system for custom manufacturing, today announced its partnership with Heliospace, harnessing the power of digital manufacturing to dramatically accelerate new product development for ground breaking space technology. Heliospace is an agile aerospace company that produces flight hardware, systems engineering, and mission formulation services to NASA, nonprofits, and commercial customers for space missions. After years of working together, Fictiv has produced flight hardware for a variety of Heliospace projects, with incredibly rigorous quality standards, including CubeSat antenna components as a part of NASA's SunRISE orbital mission and parts that will end up around one of Jupiter's moons on NASA's Europa Clipper mission. "The positive impact Fictiv has had on our product development process has been very significant," said Greg Delory, CEO of Heliospace. "Our custom manufacturing partnership with Fictiv helps us from initial design, through to test cycles and gives us a lot more confidence that we can answer customers' needs quickly and win our bids." Prior to Fictiv, Heliospace was accustomed to 18 week lead times for their intricate machined parts, which put projects at risk and impeded the growth of the business. After switching to Fictiv, they were immediately able to slash lead times down to just 2 weeks — 9 times faster. Now, Fictiv is a crucial partner in Heliospace's new product development process. "Fictiv exists to enable product innovators to create," said Dave Evans, CEO of Fictiv. "The work that Heliospace is doing is important and we're proud to have helped to accelerate their results. We're committed to advancing the aerospace industry through simplified and accelerated custom manufacturing solutions and we look forward to continuing to help Heliospace and other industry leaders push the boundaries of what is possible in space exploration."
