IMEC Launches Move Ahead Faster Projects to Introduce Advanced Manufacturing Technology in Illinois

IMEC launched the Move Ahead Faster Projects for small and mid-sized manufacturers in Illinois to accelerate growth and productivity. IMEC, Illinois affiliate of the U.S Commerce NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) National Network, initiated projects to provide the necessary assessments and technical support. It will not only improve critical drivers of organizational success but will also address the most crucial needs. From this, eligible Illinois manufacturers will also get support from the industry experts. They will help strategize all plans, implement them and excel in all programs. IMEC is a team of improvement specialists. They are entirely dedicated to changing lives and positively impacting Illinois' workforce. To drive growth, they help various organizations be productive and valuable by identifying issues, developing and implementing solutions, and providing essential support. Together, these will enable outshine strategy, workforce, leadership, operations, customer engagement, and measurement. The projects differ by actions but are developed based on over 1,200 manufacturers' immediate needs. These projects are wholly funded through the CARES Act Recovery Assistance Funds. In this context, David Boulay, Ph.D. President – IMEC presented his words. He says this initiative is an influential manufacturing engine. Manufacturers need to upscale their skills and retool their methods, particularly after the pandemic. To do that, the Move Ahead Faster Projects will develop different manufacturing strengths and ensure manufacturers become even more competitive by 2021. With this initiative, Illinois manufacturing has become a significant contributor to the Illinois economy. The Illinois Manufacturers Association's Manufacturing Matters report shows 12.0% of the Gross State Product. It creates 592,200 jobs. The Move Ahead Faster Projects are valued at $5,000 each, emphasizing various topics such as Global Market Presence, Industrial Hygiene, Finance, Leadership, Maintenance, and Technology. Existing small and mid-sized Illinois manufacturers with less than 500 employees are encouraging themselves to apply for one project. The selected projects must be conducted in Illinois and completed by July 30, 2021. Marcia Ayala, President -Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, also shared his words. He finds this initiative is an excellent opportunity for the state's manufacturing companies. The Move Ahead Faster project options present the right range of critical topics to advance manufacturing competitiveness in the present marketplace.
