Lygos Joins BioMADE Network to Advance Bioindustrial Manufacturing Technologies

Lygos, Inc., a vertically integrated provider of safe and sustainable specialty ingredients, today announced that it has joined the Bioindustrial Manufacturing And Design Ecosystem (BioMADE), a nonprofit Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) and network of public-private entities created by the Engineering Biology Research Consortium (EBRC). BioMADE is working together with Lygos and other manufacturers and innovators to advance bioindustrial manufacturing technologies while simultaneously enhancing the structure of the entire innovation ecosystem across the country. BioMADE was recently awarded $87 million from the Department of Defense to promote and secure long-term US biotechnology innovation. The collaborative institute will develop predictive downstream processing and scale-up to help accelerate prototyping capabilities and reduce the time, risk, and cost of bringing bio-based products, such as Lygos’ organic acids and cannabinoids, to commercial scale.

SSZN Selects Newsight's NSI1000 Chip for Its Advanced Industry 4.0 Production Line Sensors

Norsk Titanium Completes Article Testing on a Large Scale with GA-ASI

Norsk Titanium US Inc., a global pioneer in metal 3D printing with its Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) technology, announced the successful completion of component level testing with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI). The test program, which began in 2021, investigated the use of Norsk Titanium's RPD technology in key structural applications for GA-ASI products. Preliminary test findings for the chosen landing gear component suggested that it would work admirably. This endeavor was undertaken as part of Norsk Titanium's entry into the defense industry, with Norsk Titanium US manufacturing the test component using the company's unique RPD® additive technology. GA-ASI structural and additive engineering teams performed inspections, functional load testing, and material testing. OPT Industries Opens 24/7 Continuous Additive Manufacturing Facility in Massachusetts
