Cognizant Expands its Smart Manufacturing Offerings by Acquiring TQS Integration
Cognizant said today that it has offered to acquire TQS Integration, a privately-held worldwide industrial data, and intelligence firm headquartered in Lismore, Ireland. TQS helps manufacturers accelerate their digital transformations by manufacturing data intelligence, global technology consulting, and digital system integration. TQS, which was founded in 1998, serves clients in the life sciences, food and beverage, energy, and renewables industries.

As manufacturers embrace Industry 4.0 and recognize the power of data, industrial data platforms and services are essential for obtaining a comprehensive view of the value chain and making analytical, data-driven choices to enhance overall operations. TQS's data intelligence capabilities, coupled with Cognizant's core Industry+ and digital competencies, will collect, contextualize, and analyze manufacturing data using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. This enables manufacturers to make more informed decisions, reduce operating costs, increase implementation speed, and enhance service quality and yield.

TQS assists nine of the top 10 global health sciences firms in implementing smart manufacturing. Cognizant, which already strengthened its life sciences manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of Zenith Technologies in 2019, will combine TQS's expertise with its own to assist clients in transitioning to Industry 4.0 and accelerating the production of life-changing medicines. Cognizant's existing life sciences clients and clients in the broader manufacturing landscape benefit from these service solutions, expertise, and thought leadership.

TQS, an OSIsoft premier partner recently acquired by AVEVA, provides advanced solutions for OSIsoft's Pi System, providing clients with enhanced data visualization and data analysis of time and historical data to make real-time business decisions.

TQS is Cognizant's fifth acquisition for the year 2021. With acquisitions such as Zenith Technologies, Bright Wolf, and ESG Mobility since 2019, Cognizant has accelerated growth in the Internet of Things, data, and analytics. In addition, TQS strengthens Cognizant's presence in Ireland, a global hub for leading life sciences manufacturing experts and an excellent location for providing Industry 4.0 consulting and services to European manufacturing clients.

Uncertainty Leads Manufacturing C-Level as Concerns Around Demand, COVID-19, Capacity, Supply Chains Continue

MAPI | July 17, 2020

The Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI) released the results from a CEO and a finance leadership manufacturer peer pulse survey from executives at large manufacturing companies. While recent economic data is showing manufacturing recovery accelerating based on May and June information, our results are forecasting that the second half of the year might not sustain the momentum due to a variety of factors. Manufacturing CEOs and finance leaders agree: Demand and full recovery to pre-COVID-19 levels will likely only occur with a vaccine. Revenue in the second half of 2020 will not rebound to pre-COVID levels a year ago (no V-shaped recovery). Operations shift with China "decoupling." Leaders believe more supply chains and production will move onshore with in-country locations of end customers. Over half of CFOs expect global supply chain diversification in the second half as well. The results of the U.S. presidential election will affect manufacturing output, 81% of CEOs and 61% of CFOs believe.
