NUBURU, Inc., a leading innovator in high-power and high-brightness industrial blue laser technology, today announced that multiple units were delivered to Essentium, a worldwide leader in industrial additive manufacturing (AM). In May 2022, Essentium and NUBURU jointly announced a multi-year, multi-million-dollar agreement to develop and manufacture a blue laser-based metal AM platform. The deliveries announced today signify the initial execution of this agreement. Essentium expects strong growth across new applications and markets as a result of this technology integration.
NUBURU has begun delivering and Essentium has begun integrating NUBURU’s proprietary blue laser technology with its High Speed Extrusion (HSETM) 3D Printing technology. The new AM platform is designed to deliver breakthrough throughput for extremely high part quality and broad-scale use in major industrial markets, including automotive, aerospace, and defense.
Dr. Mark Zediker, CEO and Co-Founder of NUBURU, said, “We are excited to have delivered our first units to Essentium, and we look forward to delivering additional units over the course of 2023 and the coming years.”
Essentium launched EPOD (Essentium Parts on Demand), an in-house production service using its HSETM 3D printing technology in March 2023. The service offers fast and cost-effective production of parts at scale and access to Essentium's open AM ecosystem of solutions. NUBURU is excited to support Essentium's growth through partnerships with existing additive manufacturing service providers and manufacturing marketplaces.
“NUBURU's unparalleled expertise and leadership in blue laser technology have been instrumental in advancing our cutting-edge 3D printing platform. The arrival of the latest units this year and our partnership with NUBURU will help us continue to drive innovation in the AM industry,” said Elisa Teipel, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Essentium.
Essentium is also leveraging access to NUBURU’s intellectual property related blue laser technology, including patents granted in the United States, Japan, China, and South Korea.

NUBURU, Inc., a leading innovator in high-power and high-brightness industrial blue laser technology, today announced that it has signed a joint technology agreement with GE Additive, to explore the speed, accuracy, and commercial benefits of blue laser-based metal 3D printing.
“As we continue to advance our proprietary blue laser technology, we have further increased both power and brightness to open up new applications,” said Dr. Mark Zediker, CEO and co-founder of NUBURU. “We’ve achieved key performance milestones that open new possibilities for significant advances in metal 3D printing. Working with GE Additive, and their expertise in metal additive manufacturing, will allow us to rapidly optimize our innovative area printing approach. That will accelerate the further expansion of our pioneering blue laser into innovative metal 3D printing solutions which have the potential to change the landscape of military logistics; aerospace manufacturing; medical device fabrication, and beyond.”
“As an industry leader in metal 3D printing and having been on the leading edge of qualifying parts in regulated industries, we’re excited to evaluate NUBURU blue industrial laser technology and its benefits,” said Chris Schuppe, General Manager, Engineering & Technology of GE Additive.
NUBURU’s novel approach to additive manufacturing is built on the foundation of blue light absorption by metals, a fundamental physical advantage that offers the highest efficiency laser-based melting for a wide range of industrially important metals. Combining the blue laser module with an innovative optical conditioning system, the NUBURU light engine is at the heart of the expected performance improvements. GE Additive will provide a powder bed system and expertise in the integration and characterization of this next generation prototype light engine, to quantify the performance improvements over existing technology.
This joint development agreement is in addition to an agreement with GE Additive to support NUBURU’s previously announced AFWERX Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract awarded to NUBURU in 2022.

Rootstock Software, a recognized leader in the Manufacturing Cloud ERP space, today announced that it has renewed its partnership with Climate Vault, an award-winning non-profit that reduces and removes carbon emissions.
“Today, the way we live and do business continues to impact our planet and environment,” said David Stephans, CEO of Rootstock Software. “As a cloud ERP provider with a remote workforce, our carbon footprint is relatively small, but the audiences we serve, which are mainly mid- to large-sized manufacturers, have a huge potential to make an impact.”
Rootstock Software initially became a Climate Vault partner in 2020, which means the company has been one of Climate Vault’s first and original champions. Since then, Rootstock’s contributions have allowed Climate Vault to purchase and vault carbon allowance permits, equivalent to 1,623 metric tons of CO2 from government-regulated compliance markets. In other words, the company’s contributions have neutralized CO2 emissions that would have occurred if 182,626 gallons of gas were consumed, or 1.8 million pounds of coal were burned.
“Atmospheric levels of CO2 have reached the highest levels ever recorded. To help combat this climate challenge, we’re proud to support Climate Vault’s innovative approach to carbon reduction. It’s a fast, credible, and verifiable way for manufacturers to neutralize their carbon footprint and can serve as a valuable component to their sustainability plans,” added Stephans. “This year, we’ll be working with Climate Vault to raise awareness of their program among our manufacturing audiences and looking at ways our Cloud ERP can help manufacturers track carbon reduction and offsetting efforts.”
"We are thrilled to work with Rootstock on this important commitment to reduce their emissions footprint and support their sustainability goals," said Michael Greenstone, Co-Founder of Climate Vault and Milton Friedman Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago.
Climate Vault’s breakthrough solution has driven significant impact since its inception and is poised for scaling. In just over a year, the company has reduced nearly one million metric tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent to eliminating 185,304 cars from the road for one year.
