Pittsburgh Electrical Insulation Announces Deal to Acquire Electrical Products Segment

A Pittsburgh manufacturer of materials for electrical insulation earlier this month announced a deal with a suburban Nashville tape manufacturer to acquire its electrical products division.

Pittsburgh Electrical Insulation's purchase from Fibertek includes tape, film, laminate, wedge, and rope products under the Res-I-Glas, Res-I-Straint, Res-I-Band, Res-I-Flex, Res-I-Lam and B-Stage names.

PEI officials said the deal would broaden the products it offers to the electro-mechanical insulation market, as well as allow in-house product testing and the manufacturing of UL-approved laminates.

Fibertek makes tapes and laminates for electric motor, generator, and transformer applications, while PEI serves the power generation, mining, railroad, mass transit, and wind power sectors. Officials said the combination would "create an exciting, reliable supply option to OEM and repair industries."
